Solskjaer hints that Sanchez won't fit in at Manchester United when he returns from Inter

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Alexis Sanchez simply won't fit in at Manchester United, saying 'sometimes when you decorate your living room it might be a nice sofa... but it maybe doesn't go with the rest of it.'

The Chilean moved to Inter Milan at the beginning of the season on a season-long-loan deal, but has struggled to make a consistent impact under Antonio Conte.

He came on as a second-half substitute in Inter's 1-1 draw against Napoli on Saturday, which sent them crashing out of the Coppa Italia, and Solskjaer admitted that while there's always place for 'good players and good people', he was not exactly encouraged when talking about Sanchez's future at the club.

'Of course there's a place for good players and good people in this environment,' Solskjaer said, as reported by the Daily Star.

'Let's see where we get to after the season, because we do feel this squad is exciting. We do feel we're on the way to something.

'It's up to all the players when they're here to do well, because there's always talk of people coming in and out, and it's about gelling this group together.'

However, when it came to expanding on Sanchez, Solskjaer used an analogy which brings into question how suitable Sanchez's style of play is at the club.

'Sometimes when you decorate your living room it might be a nice chair or nice sofa, but it maybe doesn't go with the rest of it.

'For us to think about major honours, our focus is about finishing the league this season.'

Sanchez moved to United in January 2018 as part of a swap-deal with Arsenal for Henrikh Mkhirtaryan, but has failed to make serious inroads - first under Jose Mourinho and then under Solskjaer.
