Brighton 2-1 Arsenal: Gunners concede late despite Pepe goal, Leno off injured

Brighton's Neal Maupay and Lewis Dunk left Arsenal stunned after Nicolas Pepe lit up a deserted Amex Stadium with a wonderful opening goal.

Match Reports
Neal Maupay was a controversial hero as relegation-threatened Brighton and Hove Albion came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Amex Stadium.

Maupay was at the centre of a grim first-half incident, where a coming together with Bernd Leno resulted in the Arsenal goalkeeper suffering a serious-looking knee injury.

Arsenal hit the front through a sumptuous Nicolas Pepe strike in the 68th minute but lackadaisical defending from a short corner worked by Solly March and Yves Bissouma allowed Lewis Dunk to equalise seven minutes later.

53' OFFSIDE! Aubameyang's goal disallowed

Aubameyang is found in acres of space behind the defensive line by Saka and he calmly strides forward and dispatches the chance into the bottom-right corner, but VAR shows that the striker's foot was marginally offside when the ball was played and disallows the goal!

68' GOAL! Brighton 0-1 Arsenal (Pepe)

Saka finds the winger on the right and he faces up to his marker just inside the box. He cuts inside and curls a beautiful, dipping strike that flies into the top corner, leaving Ryan with no chance! It's 1-0 to Arsenal!

75' GOAL! Brighton 1-1 Arsenal (Dunk)

It's a scrappy one, but the hosts won't care! March gets down the left and crosses towards Maupay at the near post. He produces a backheeled flick at goal that Holding just about blocks on the line, but he can only clear into the outstretched foot of Dunk and it ricochets in for the equaliser! It's 1-1!

80' CLOSE! Aubameyang's shot denied by Ryan

The forward hits a fierce strike from just outside the box that swerves and dips at goal, with Ryan awkwardly parrying up into the air before Nketiah is penalised for a foul on Webster as he tries to latch onto the rebound.

95' GOAL! Brighton 2-1 Arsenal (Maupay)

Connolly gets to the ball ahead of Holding to flick on for Maupay, who races past Mustafi and dinks over the onrushing Martinez and in from a tight angle! It's 2-1 to Brighton!
