Sanchez's future in doubt as Man Utd and Inter fail to agree loan extension
Alexis Sanchez's future is in doubt after Inter Milan chief Beppe Marrotta said the club had failed to agree a loan extension with Manchester United.
Sanchez has spent the season on loan at Inter, and United want to get his £400,000-per-week wages off the bill this summer to release transfer funds for top targets such as £110million-rated Jadon Sancho.
However, United still have to sort out the striker's immediate future, with a fresh agreement needed for Sanchez to play the rest of this season with Inter after the campaign was extended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Inter still have 10 Serie A matches to play, as well as the remainder of their Europa League campaign, following football's enforced hiatus due to the outbreak of the virus.
And the Italian club face a similar predicament over winger Victor Moses, who is on loan from Chelsea, and midfielder Ivan Perisic, who is on loan at Bayern Munich from Inter.
Marrotta says Inter remain in talks with all three clubs over loan extensions, but has revealed his frustration at how talks are progressing.
"This is a great regulatory anomaly that needs to be resolved because we are still dealing with Chelsea and Manchester United today to try to extend their loans,” Marrotta told Sky Sports.
“It is not a beautiful thing. We are also dealing with Bayern Munich over Ivan Perisic.”
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must ditch at least four big stars, including Sanchez and Jesse Lingard, if he wants to land Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
United are desperate to land the 20-year-old, who is said to be ready to leave the Bundesliga for the Premier League after three years in Germany.
High earner Sanchez is in the firing line along with out-of-favour forward Lingard, midfielder Andreas Pereira and defenders Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.
Solskjaer is prepared to offload all of them, although he privately acknowledges getting a buyer for Chilean flop Sanchez will be a tough ask.
