GERRARD'S MESSAGE TO JORDAN HENDERSON AFTER LIVERPOOL WIN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Steven Gerrard has told Jordan Henderson that his life will never be the same after lifting the Champions League.
Liverpool captain Henderson followed in predecessor Gerrard's footsteps after the Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid.
Anfield legend Gerrard inspired Liverpool to Champions League glory in 2005 and has a warning to his former teammate.
“Winning will change his life, it will change all their lives. People around the world knew who Jordan Henderson and all the Liverpool players were, but millions more will know about them now because the Champions League brings a worldwide audience," he told the Times.
“I am hoping this will become the catalyst for him to lift more trophies above his head. I know that is what he wants, the manager wants and the supporters want."
Gerrard was in the stands in Madrid on Saturday night and admits he was proud to see his successor lead Liverpool to victory over Spurs.
“If I had to name someone I regard as the ultimate professional, then Jordan would come right at the top of the list. He is immaculate in the way he lives his life," Gerrard added.
“He is an incredible role model. He is selfless. He puts himself at the back of the queue because he looks after everyone else first. He puts Jordan Henderson last."
