LIVERPOOL 'MAKE TRANSFER DECISION' ON MAN UTD & TOTTENHAM TARGET BRUNO FERNANDES
Liverpool evening news live
Liverpool have reportedly ruled themselves out of the race to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes this summer.
A host of Premier League big guns including Tottenham and Manchester United have also been keeping tabs on the midfielder, who is valued at around £70million by his current employers.
Fernandes caught the eye with some impressive performances last season, scoring 31 goals from midfield.
He is keen on a move to the Premier League with United leading the chase as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes a replacement for Paris Saint-Germain -bound Ander Herrera.
And it seems the Red Devils have been handed a huge advantage in their pursuit after Tottenham and Liverpool , as well as Manchester City , distanced themselves from a move.
ESPN has claimed that privately all three clubs have ruled out a move for the talented midfield maestro, and United are now expected to step up their interest.
It is claimed that United believe that Newcastle youngster Longstaff, who made just nine appearances in the Premier League last season, is eager to leave his boyhood club and believe they can bring him to Old Trafford for around £25million.
That has reportedly caused the club to hold off on making an official bid for the 21-year-old, while the club have also taken their time over a move for Fernandes as they consider other options.
Solskjaer could need to bring in two central midfielders if Paul Pogba quits Old Trafford, with the Frenchman a target for former club Juventus and Real Madrid .
