HOW MAN UTD COULD LINE-UP NEXT SEASON WITH DE LIGT & OTHER POSSIBLE SIGNINGS
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure to overhaul his Manchester United squad this summer; turfing out the deadwood and bringing in new talent.
The Norwegian is looking to move away from the transfer strategy of recent years, in which United blew most of their budget on superstars.
Instead Manchester United are looking to sign young players for less and turn them into the world-beaters of tomorrow.
Solskjaer does have a workable budget, but should David de Gea, Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez all depart this summer - which is feasible - then he'll have even more cash to splash.
Here's how United could look if Solskjaer succeeds with his entire squad overhaul. But brace yourselves, it's a dramatic new look.
Jasper Cillessen
De Gea looks set to leave this summer, which will be a big loss for the Red Devils. His exit will free up cash for new players though, and one man who could fill the void between the sticks is Cillessen. Well, if Barcelona lower their asking price.
Diogo Dalot
United have been linked Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but it seems they are getting priced out of a deal. Dalot isn't quite the finished article, but he has serious potential, and Solskjaer may look to stick with him this season and spend his transfer budget in other areas.
Victor Lindelof
The Swede took some time to settle at Man United following his switch from Benfica, but he is arguably the Red Devils' best centre-back currently. Solskjaer is a fan of his too so you can expect him to start at the back for United this season.
Matthijs de Ligt
The dream signing. De Ligt is on the radar of every big club on the planet, and winning the race for the youngster would be really something. Barcelona appear to be the favourites, but should United land the Dutchman you feel their defence would be sorted for years.
Luke Shaw
Another player, like Lindelof, who has come on leaps and bounds last season is Shaw. The Englishman won United's Player of the Season award, and he'll be looking to show further signs of improvement in the coming campaign.
Declan Rice
The West Ham midfielder would set United back a pretty penny, but assuming Pogba leaves this summer there will be money for the Red Devils to play with. Rice would fill the void left behind by Herrera and help instill a new attitude in the engine room.
Adrien Rabiot
The Frenchman is highly sought after and set to leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free this month. There are a number of clubs who have reportedly already offered him a contract. But United are among these, so there is every chance he'll sign.
Joao Felix
Another highly sought after player, Felix would set United back a small fortune. But the Red Devils have money to play with, will likely have even more money to play with if they sell Pogba and De Gea, and, best of all, are one of the favourites to sign the Portuguese wonderkid.
Bruno Fernandes
Another Portuguese star ready for a new challenge on the continent. Fernandes would also set United back a few quid, but at 24 he is young and would be another astute bit of summer business.
Daniel James
The lightning-fast Welshman has already agreed terms to sign for the Red Devils, it's just a case of the deal crossing the line. James is young, intelligent, and, as aforesaid, super quick. He'd also be the poster boy for the move towards developing youngsters and away from signing superstars for hundreds of millions.
Marcus Rashford
The Red Devils striker looks to be a mainstay in Solskjaer's team, if the club can find the right way of supporting him up top. Rashford still has some improving to do to be world class, but he's certainly on the right track.
