What Maguire 'transfer agreement' with Utd means for Bruno Fernandes pursuit

Man utd news update live:
Harry Maguire's transfer to Manchester United appears to have taken a step closer amid reports Leicester City will sell the centre-back.

Sources close to Manchester United claim they are yet to agree a £80million fee with Leicester City for Maguire, but the wheels are certainly in motion for the transfer to take place this month.

Maguire has been at the top of United's wishlist throughout the summer window after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it clear he wanted to strengthen his defence.

The Foxes star was linked with a transfer to Manchester United last summer when then manager Jose Mourinho identified him as a world-class centre-back.

And according to The Sun, United have finally won the race to sign him.

The Red Devils will reportedly fly Maguire into Manchester on Monday so that the England international can complete his medical.

Maguire isn't the only man on the Red Devils' wishlist this summer with Bruno Fernandes a name that continues to crop up.

So what will a potential £80million transfer for Maguire mean for Manchester United's pursuit of Fernandes?

Reports in Portugal have claimed that United were always prioritising signing Maguire first before switching their attention to Fernandes.

But the Red Devils were hoping to pay a lot less than the £80million they look set to part with to land the England international.

The bank is not completely empty but a transfer for Fernandes wages on Sporting Lisbon's willingness to play ball.

United are only looking to spend around £30million on the Portugal international, while Sporting want a fee closer to £60million.

Fernandes could in theory get priced out of a move, and it may require the player - who is keen on a switch to Old Trafford - putting pressure on Sporting to make the transfer happen.
