MAN UTD FANS HIJACK WAN-BISSAKA TRANSFER ANNOUNCEMENT IN ANTI-GLAZER PROTEST
Man utd news live:
Aaron Wan-Bissaka became Manchester United's fourth most-expensive signing of all-time when he completed his £50million move to Old Trafford on Saturday.
But many United supporters seemed to have something else on their minds when the move was announced.
Only Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Angel Di Maria have been signed for more money by the Old Trafford outfit, and Wan-Bissaka was obviously delighted to make the move after coming through the ranks at Crystal Palace and playing 46 times for the Eagles' first-team.
"Every kid wants to play for a team like this," he said .
"I am grateful and it is an honour to represent this club. I think I will improve every step and learn different things around new team-mates.
"I think Man United is a big club, a big family, a big fan base, and I think they all stick together and are so tight together.”
But that fanbase haven't been too happy of late, with many supporters taking to social media to voice their displeasure at the ownership of the Glazer family.
Recent underperformance, mounting debts and the fact that United - who finished sixth in the Premier League in 2018/19 - are such a long way behind rivals such as Premier League winners Manchester City and European champions Liverpool has stoked up ill-feeling among the fans, with many now calling for change.
There was a suggestion that an anti-Glazer protest would be held outside Old Trafford on Saturday, but it is online where the displeasure has been most visable.
And when the Wan-Bissaka transfer was announced, supporters flooded to reply to the tweet with the same hashtag and sentiment.
With more transfer activity expected this summer, it will be interesting to see if the replies continue.
