LIVERPOOL MAKE TRANSFER DECISION OVER UCL FINAL HERO DIVOCK ORIGI (ESPN)

Liverpool have reportedly decided they will not let Divock Origi go this summer.

According to ESPN , the Reds will not sanction the sale of the striker under any circumstances - even if it means running the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Champions League final hero Origi scored a string of crucial goals as he carved out a role as an impact substitute for Jurgen Klopp's side last season.

He has been in discussions with the Anfield club over fresh terms as a reward for his late heroics but still has only one year remaining on his current contract for the time being.

Even if he does not agree to a new deal, Liverpool will not let him leave under any circumstances as they aim to go one better in the Premier League next season.

Origi is said to be happy to remain at Anfield next season, although he is in no rush to commit his future as he ponders a change in search of first team football.

Liverpool know they will have until January to convince him to sign an extension, whilst they are content he would not be running down his deal for financial gain, rather for footballing reasons.

The 24-year-old is said to have a close relationship with sporting director Michael Edwards , who has refused to sell him on the cheap as he felt he still had a part to play.

Origi vindicated his decision with some timely goals last season to take the title race down to the wire and they will opt for the same approach of keeping him in the fold next season.

His situation in terms of playing time looks unlikely to drastically change, with no major additions expected at Anfield and Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane established as the first choice front three.
