LUKAKU RETURNS TO MAN UTD PRE-SEASON TRAINING AS HE IS SET FOR TRANSFER TALKS
Man utd news updates live:
Manchester United have reported back for pre-season training at Carrington with Romelu Lukaku set for showdown talks over his future.
Lukaku has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan this summer and recent reports suggest the Serie A club are ready to do all they can to fund a bid.
New manager Antonio Conte has identified the Belgian as one of his main targets and is said to be willing to sell two players to allow him to try and match the £75m fee placed on his head by United.
Lukaku has struggled for consistency since his big-money Old Trafford move from Everton but they still want to recoup the fee they paid if they let him go.
Lukaku's agent, Federico Pastorello, is believed to have already met with Inter in Milan, whilst today (July 1) marks the first day the club are free to sign players again after being released from a FFP settlement agreement.
It could be a day of significant movement for Lukaku, who is expected to hold talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United bosses at Carrington regarding his future after they returned to start pre-season.
Despite intense speculation over an exit, Solskjaer recently hinted he expects Lukaku to be involved when they play their first pre-season friendly against Perth Glory in Australia on July 13.
Solskjaer told United's official YouTube channel last month: "Summer has been kind to us in that respect - so we'll travel to Perth with the full first team squad.
"Everyone should be available to be picked - hopefully they're fit when they come back - so the first team is going to be there."
Marcus Rashford was also amongst those back at Carrington amid reports he has agreed a big-money contract extension worth around £300,000.
He could be set to put pen to paper on his new deal today, tying his future to Old Trafford amid rumours of Barcelona interest earlier this summer.
It is a big pre-season for Solskjaer, who expressed concerns over the fitness of his stars as he introduced a faster tempo of play after taking over from Jose Mourinho.
He previously pinpointed the importance of a full pre-season with his players to get them physically ready for a huge season after they finished down in sixth in the Premier League last season.
