Madrid want to 'sell Bale & 5 others to fund Pogba transfer or move for Eriksen'

Man utd news updates live:
Coach Zinedine Zidane had hoped to fly out to North America with his squad complete for next season, but Los Blancos are no nearer to securing a new midfield signing, while the future of six players remains unresolved.

Gareth Bale is one of those. Zidane wants the Welsh winger to be sold, but the player is in no hurry to leave and Standard Sport understands he will only consider a move to one of Europe's elite clubs.

That rules out a transfer to China, which was rumoured in the media on Tuesday, but offers from elsewhere are not forthcoming at this point

Madrid had hoped to use the winger in a deal to bring in Paul Pogba from Manchester United, but the Red Devils have no plans to sell the France midfielder and, for the first time in a number of summers, they have no interest in Bale either as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bring in young British talent.

Madrid are looking to make around €200million from player sales in the remainder of the window, with Bale, Isco, Mariano Diaz, James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez and Keylor Navas all available.

Without recouping close to or at least half that amount, Los Blancos are unlikely to be able to afford Pogba or Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen ahead of the 2019-20 season, having already spent in excess of €300m this summer on Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo and Eder Militao.

The Brazil defender was presented at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday and had to cut short his press conference due to a dizzy spell just as he was asked a question about Neymar.

Real hope there will be at least one more player presentation this summer and Los Blancos will turn their attentions to Eriksen if a deal for Pogba proves impossible, but the World Cup winner is still priority for Zidane.

Los Blancos have raised close to €150m so far this summer with the sales of Mateo Kovacic (to Chelsea), Marcos Llorente (to Atletico), Theo Hernandez (to AC Milan) and Raul de Tomas (to Benfica).

But more are needed and as the squad train out in Montreal, the club will continue to work on the sales of Bale, Isco, James, Mariano, Navas and Vazquez.

Selling is the priority before buying and making money back on those players seems set to be the key to bringing in either Pogba or Eriksen later in the window.
