Rojo confirms Man Utd transfer stance and explains why Everton move failed

Man utd news update live:
Marcos Rojo says he will look to leave Manchester United in January if he is not playing after he saw a summer move to Everton collapse at the last minute.

Rojo is down the defensive pecking order at United after the arrival of Harry Maguire in the summer, despite the departure of Chris Smalling on loan to Roma last week.

The centre-back is competing with Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly for one of two starting spots in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting XI.

And with a difficult task ahead of him, Rojo has confirmed he will seek a transfer away from United in January if his current lack of playing time continues.

Speaking to Argentine media while on international duty, Rojo tole Ole that playing regularly to keep his spot in Lionel Scaloni's squad is his current priority.

“I talked to Scaloni, he told me that he was happy because in the preseason I had played many games, that I looked good and that's why he called me, but that I had to play," Rojo explained.

“I'm sure that to play in the national team you have to play in your club, you have to always be there, and when you're here, show why.”

Expanding on the collapsed move to Everton, Rojo explained the decision came from the United hierarchy.

“It's difficult to leave when you are in such a big club," he admitted.

"I had the possibility of Everton, but by decisions of the club or the manager it wasn't possible.

“Now I have to fight until December and if it doesn't work out, I will try to leave.

"The qualifiers and the Copa America are coming and I want to be part of that. I don't want to be out again, I want to exhaust all the possibilities and compete to be here.”
