Man Utd preparing shock January move for Spurs star (Sun)

Man utd news update live:
Manchester United are 'to make a stunning January swoop for Christian Eriksen,' according to reports.

Eriksen is in to the final year of his contract at Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur and made it clear at the start of the summer that he was seeking a 'new challenge' and wanted to leave.

The obvious destination was Real Madrid who were undergoing a serious spending spree and ended up splashing out £270million as they tried to improve their squad after an embarrassing previous season.

A creative midfielder was also at the top of Los Blancos' shopping list but Zinedine Zidane's number one target was United's Paul Pogba and they ended up signing neither player.

Now Eriksen, who admitted he wished he could decide his future like in Football Manager, will remain in North London until January at least.

The Sun reports that ahead of the transfer window opening again United 'are preparing a shock move' for the Dane.

It's claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 'isn't deterred' from failing to sign Eriksen this summer as he 'thinks he can be the creative spark his team currently lack.'

It's reported that even though Eriksen had 'his heart set on a Madrid switch, he was flattered by United's interest' and that United 'will revive their interest in the new year.'

The report states that Eriksen 'is uncomfortable with the idea of the north Londoners not getting a fee for him and as a result, United may try their luck again.'

Meanwhile, United had scouts watching Braga and Benfica on Sunday as they are 'attentive to the pearls tha come out in Portugal, according to A Bola, via SportWitness.

The report states that the two players United were likely watching were defender Ruben Dias and midfielder Florentino Luis.

The Eagles won 4-0, with Dias keeping a clean sheet and Luis running the game in midfield and even winning a penalty.
