Man Utd target Dani Olmo makes transfer admission over failed summer move

Man utd news update live:
In-demand Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo has slammed Dinamo Zagreb for their hefty asking price after failing to secure a summer move.

Olmo, who starred in Spain's European Under 21 Championship victory this summer, has been linked with a host of clubs with Manchester United amongst those reported to be keen.

But his current club slapped a €40 million (£36m) price tag on his head which he believes was too high given the strength of their domestic league.

Olmo admits he is still eyeing a move to "a strong club in the five big leagues" and United could have a chance to swoop when the January transfer window comes around.

"I have nothing to hide: I wanted to leave Dinamo, I wanted to move on and join a strong club in the five big leagues," Olmo told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti .

"I thought this summer was the best time to leave.

"Such a separation would have been best for the player and club, it's when you can get the best transfer.

"I think this price is too high. Not because I think I'm worth less, but because I play in the Croatian league, and the foreign clubs pay attention to this.

"Realistically, it's difficult for a player in the Croatian league to reach this price."

Olmo has also been linked with Liverpool , Tottenham and West Ham .

A string of La Liga clubs have also been keen, as well as Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

Reports have claimed he wants to play Champions League football, but he is open to possibilities and refusing rule out any potential destinations when he departs Zagreb.
