Brandon Williams & Daniel James praised by Solskjaer after win vs Chelsea

Man utd news update live:
Brandon Williams received more praise from Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following his first domestic start at Chelsea.

Williams, 19, returned to the line-up at left wing-back following his man of the match performance at Partizan Belgrade last week and played the full 90 minutes as United won 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

Solskjaer only gave Williams his career debut as a substitute against Rochdale in the previous round on September 25 and the Crumpsall-born full-back has already made two starts in the Europa League.

Solskjaer said Williams was 'outstanding' at Stamford Bridge. He said: "Whenever you get results it will give players confidence. But when you give young lads like Brandon Williams the experience that he got tonight and the kid was again outstanding, it's only gonna help them.

"We know we're not the finished product, a work in process and keep trying to improve. They're learning, getting new experiences, we wanna win every game, when you play for Man United you're expected to win every game.

"So for us you can tick this one off and look onto the next one, Bournemouth away from home, which always proves to be a difficult away game."

Daniel James has directly contributed to six of United's 13 Premier League goals and procured another penalty at Stamford Bridge that Marcus Rashford converted. James was fouled to win a spotkick at the weekend and Solskjaer praised his penalty box play.

"He's so sharp and quick," Solskjaer remarked. "When he gets in front of you you can't really attempt for the ball and if you do you're too slow and it's a pen."
