Emre Can 'keen on Man Utd move' as contact is made with Juventus star

Transfer news update live:
Juventus midfielder Emre Can is reportedly keen on returning to the Premier League to join Manchester United .

The German star moved to Italy in 2018 on a free transfer but is enduring a nightmare second season at the Allianz Stadium, making just three substitute appearances in Serie A so far.

The 25 year-old was also left out of the club’s Champions League squad by new manager Maurizio Sarri, a decision that has left the player's future in doubt.

And Tuttosport has claimed that Can is attracting interest across Europe and is weighing up his next move after his agents made contact with various clubs.

The report goes on to claim that United is his preferred option and the midfielder is seen as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, who has strongly been linked with an Old Trafford exit.

Earlier this month, Can hit out at Juventus boss Sarri for not giving him chance to impress this season, with the German midfielder’s long-term future in Turin in question.

"Last season I played a lot. Especially in important games for Juventus. And I also played well there," he said. "I haven't had a chance this season.

"But now I think, when I come back to the club, I will get chances again.

"I am definitely grateful to Joachim Low. Because I didn't play much in the club and he invited me anyway. Nevertheless, he gave me the chance. That's why I was simply happy that I played again."

Juventus are next in action against Bologna, seeking to extend a one-point gap at the head of Serie A.

But Can's long-term future is anything but secure, with him being mooted in numerous reports as a potential makeweight in a move from Juve for Pogba.

Can has also been linked with a switch to Spain.
