Puel singles out Pogba as huge reason for Man United revival

Claude Puel believes Paul Pogba's superb form is behind Manchester United's revival under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

The Leicester boss saw his side edged out by United 1-0 on Sunday after Marcus Rashford converted a brilliant Pogba pass.

And Puel thinks his French compatriot is showing how influential he can be, spearheading nine wins from ten games.

'He’s completely behind this. He’s become the team’s leader, playing higher up the pitch in a sort of number 10 role,' Puel told Le Parisien.

'He’s decisive with his passing and his goals. He drags the team behind him.'

The 25-year-old stagnated under Jose Mourinho after helping France win the World Cup last year but has found his best form again at Old Trafford.

And Puel thinks Pogba's skillset makes him a nightmare for defenders to deal with.

'You can’t man mark him. He’s powerful, can sniff out the right pass in the box, drives forward quickly.

'You can’t really stop him. It’s a near impossible physical duel. It’s a challenge to try and read what he’s about to do. He’s got great vision.'

'With one or two touches, he can give amazing assists, especially over the defence.

'He sees everything quickly and is technically on point. Some players are so productive that you play around them. That’s what’s happening at Manchester United.'

Perhaps Jamie Vardy won't appreciate Puel's lavish praise of Pogba after it seemed like the striker called his boss a f****** k***head for talking to the opposition midfielder after full time on Sunday.

But its difficult to argue with Puel's assessment. In the ten matches under Solskjaer Pogba has scored six goals and notched five assists.

No doubt he'll have a major say in whether Solksjaer's side finish in the Champions League places this season.
