BREAKING: Man Utd's Marouane Fellaini joins Chinese side Shandong Luneng

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has officially joined Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng.

"Everybody at United thanks Marouane for his service and wishes him well for the future as he completes his move to Shandong Luneng Taishan FC in China," says Manchester United's statement.

Fellaini was a regular for former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, but has been out of favour under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Fellaini now joins Belgian team-mate Mousa Dembele, who signed for Guangzhou R&F in early January, in Chinese Super League. Fellow compatriots Axel Witsel and Yannick Carrasco also spent time in Far East.

Fellaini was a big favourite of Jose Mourinho but has played just 31 minutes under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, coming on as a substitute in the wins over Cardiff and Reading.

The Chinese Super League clubs have courted Fellaini for a number of years and Guangzhou Evergrande had shown an interest last month.

Fellaini, who was signed for United by David Moyes from Everton for £27m, has often struggled to win over the Old Trafford crowd with his ungainly style but managed to score some important goals under Mourinho.

Indeed, the Portuguese coach pushed hard to get Fellaini the new two year contract he signed last summer, worth around £140,000 a week. He has managed 21 appearances this season and scored twice.
