Barcelona expect to receive over €40m from Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez.
Denis Suarez yet to make impact. Barcelona expects to get £40m from Andre Gomis and Surez.
Those in the boardroom at Barcelona understand that the club need to generate funds in order to facilitate the arrival of new players, and two players who look set to be sacrificed are Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez.
Both players are currently out on loan, at Everton and Arsenal respectively, and it is estimated that Barcelona will receive over 40 million euros with the departures of the two midfielders.
The Blaugrana already know of two areas that they want to strengthen - a back-up striker to relieve some of the pressure on Luis Suarez, and a back-up for Jordi Alba at left-back - but there may yet need to be further additions, depending on the future of players such as Jasper Cillessen.
The money that Barcelona would obtain from the sales of Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez is expected to come from England.
The Spaniard has a clause in his loan deal at Arsenal that allows the London side to purchase him for 20m euros, yet the issue is that Suarez has found it difficult to force his way into Unai Emery's starting line-up. Barcelona remain optimistic, however, that he will impress once he has adapted to his surroundings. Suarez sees no future for himself under Ernesto Valverde and has no intention of returning to the Camp Nou.
Like Suarez, Andre Gomes has no real future under Valverde. The issue with his deal, though, is that there is no fixed price for Everton to pay. Instead, the two clubs - and whoever else is interested - will have to negotiate and it is thought that Barcelona could receive 40m euros for the Portuguese midfielder alone. The 25-year-old looks set to stay in the Premier League.
