Zidane wants to sign both Pogba & Camavinga for Madrid (L'Equipe)

Real Madrid don't view Rennes prospect Eduardo Camavinga as an alternative to Manchester United star Paul Pogba as Zinedine Zidane wants to sign both players - according to L'Equipe.

Pogba has long been linked with a switch to Spain after stating his desire to leave United last summer, though an exit failed to materialise.

The Frenchman's season has been plagued by injury and his contract is set to expire in 2021 but United retain the option to extend it for a further season.

MEN Sport understand the Reds are yet to trigger the clause and are relaxed about his future. Dressing room sources told the MEN Pogba's 'head is not currently at the club' in the New Year, though he remains very popular among friends and teammates at the club.

Reports have suggested that Madrid could move for Camavinga, 17, as an alternative to Pogba but L'Equipe believe Zidane wants both players signed.

They report Madrid have accelerated their transfer plans for both players in order to inject life into their ageing midfield but nothing has been agreed yet.

Camavinga is believed to have a gentleman's agreement with Rennes that he will remain with the Ligue 1 side should they qualify for the Champions League. They currently sit third in the standings which could scupper the deal.
