Man Utd target Rice slams 'hate' for Paul Pogba following Graeme Souness spat

Declan Rice has leapt to the defence of Manchester United's Paul Pogba following his spat with Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness.

The Frenchman recently responded to one of his most vocal critics in an interview with United's podcast where he claimed: 'I didn't even know who he [Souness] was.'

The Scot replied by saying: 'The oldest thing in football comes to mind - put your medals on the table.'

Souness' response was shared on Instagram by Three Sixty TV and Rice commented in support of the United midfielder.

'Why do people hate on Pogba? Don't make any sense.

'The guy is ridiculous, one of the best in the world. You think he wants to be injured?

'Some things in football you can't prevent [three snoring emojis].'

The West Ham midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford while Pogba has long been rumoured to want a transfer away from the club.

Rice also fuelled speculation of a transfer to London rivals Chelsea after admitting he would like to link up with England team-mate Mason Mount at club level again after the pair came through the Blues' academy.

'I'd love to play with him at club level again,' Rice told Copa 90 when asked about Mount.

'One thing we've always said as kids we'd love to play with each other at club and international level but obviously you never know because of different paths and things like that.'
