Solskjaer confirms Ighalo will be part of Utd travelling squad for Chelsea clash
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Odion Ighalo will be part of the Manchester United travelling squad for their game against Chelsea on Monday, despite not training with the squad yet.
Ighalo has stayed behind in Manchester working on his fitness while the squad are on a warm weather training camp in Spain. The decision was made to leave the forward back at Carrington due to fears he may not be allowed back in the country amid concerns over Coronavirus as he has been in China in the past two weeks.
United travel to Stamford Bridge for their first game following the winter break and Solskjaer said the on loan Nigerian international is in contention to play a part.
"Yeah, he is going to travel with us. We will just see his fitness work this week and I think we will get him sharp," he told the Manchester United App. "We want to integrate him as quickly as we can because, of course, he is desperate to play for us."
United arrived in Spain on Saturday and have been enjoying training in the warm weather during the first enforced winter break and Solskjaer has been impressed with what he has seen from his squad.
“Yeah, it's very good. I think the boys enjoyed a break, they needed a break, but now they are back, focused and they have been working well," Solskjaer said.
"Yeah, of course with the weather back home as well, this has been an even bigger plus for us. Being in Europe, because the travel isn't too far, is also a good point because we don't have too many days before we have to go back and get ready for Chelsea.”
