CHELSEA PLANS TO HIRE LAMPARD AS SARRI REPLACEMENT (MEDIASET)
Sport Mediaset is reporting Chelsea have decided to replace Maurizio Sarri with Frank Lampard this summer.
According to the broadcaster, Chelsea are keen to appoint a fan favourite after Sarri’s divisive reign, despite the Italian leading them to third place in the Premier League and two cup Finals.
Lampard would fit the bill, given he scored 211 goals in 648 games for the Blues, winning three English titles and a Champions League.
The former England midfielder ventured into management last summer with Derby County and has made an immediate impact, qualifying them for the EFL Championship playoffs.
Sarri, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A, where he could take over the reins at Roma, Milan or even Juventus.
