RASHFORD HAS 'NO DESIRE' TO LEAVE MAN UTD IN £100M BARCELONA TRANSFER (MIRROR)
- Manchester United will have to fight off Barcelona’s attempts to land their coveted striker Marcus Rashford this summer.
Barca are preparing to take advantage of the uncertainty over Rashford’s United future by launching a bid in excess of £100million for the England star this summer.
The Catalan club are understood to feel they can take advantage of Rashford’s failure to sign a contract extension with United by making a concerted move for the 21-year-old.
Barca, who face United in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at Old Trafford on April 10, are preparing a move for Rashford, who is out of contract in 2020, according to sources in Spain.
Keeping Rashford, as well as ensuring first-choice keeper David De Gea signs a new deal, will be caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top priority when he lands the job full-time.
Solskjaer is set to be confirmed as permanent boss, with an announcement possibly as early as Friday, as United look to end the uncertainty around his position.
United are continuing to hold talks with Rashford and his representatives over a new long-term deal that would see the forward’s wages double to £150,000-a-week.
It is understood Rashford has no desire to leave his boyhood club, but United must agree an extension with him as quickly as possible, to keep Barca at bay.
Rashford became disillusioned under former United boss Jose Mourinho, but has thrived under Solskjaer, with eight goals in 18 appearances under the Norwegian.
