HERRERA PROUD TO WIN REDS' FEBRUARY AWARD.

HERRERA PROUD TO WIN REDS' FEBRUARY AWARD

Ander Herrera may have scooped our Player of the Month award for February, but the in-form Spaniard feels every member of the Manchester United squad has played their part during the last few weeks.

The midfielder, who is currently sidelined after being injured during last weekend's battling draw with Liverpool, picked up 40 per cent of the votes, edging team-mates Paul Pogba (35 per cent) and Victor Lindelof (25 per cent) in the poll.

Ander spoke of his delight at claiming the accolade, but was full of praise for his team-mates.

“Someone has to win it but the whole team is doing great,” he told us.

“We are looking really solid, all the performances have been very solid and we have always been fighting for the result, so we’re really happy with the moment we’re in.

“I won the trophy which makes me feel so proud and happy, but this is a team game and as long as we keep fighting together I will be happy whoever wins the next one.”

“It’s always good to get the recognition from our fans and our people. That’s why I work so hard, not just to win the trophy [smiles] but for the affection and support of our fans.

“I will keep pushing hard to help the team. At the moment I am injured but I will try to be back as soon as possible. I feel good and feel much better than one week ago and I am looking forward to working hard for the club again.”

Reflecting on a tough but mainly successful February, Ander pointed out how keeping things tight at the back has been hugely important to the team's run of results.

“I think one of the things we are improving is we are not conceding too many goals,“ he said.

”That’s important and David [De Gea] will be very happy for that and Sergio [Romero] as well, as he played a fantastic game against Chelsea. We’re in a good moment, now the next step is Southampton tomorrow and then we’ll have PSG. Let’s go game by game and try to get back into the top four.

“All the players are feeling important – look at the game against Crystal Palace and the way we played with five or six injuries. I think we are building something really good, everyone feels important.

“The other night, for example, Fred came in and played after a few weeks and he played fantastically well. Then we have Alexis who worked so hard against Palace, and Romelu [Lukaku] scored a couple of goals which is important for strikers. Diogo Dalot played as a right winger and he played like a proper right winger.

”We’re looking forward to the next few matches.”
