Man Utd fans identify new role for Daniel James if Sancho joins
Manchester United fans believe Daniel James could have a new role to play at the club if Jadon Sancho joins in the upcoming transfer window.
James has made 37 appearances for the Reds in all competitions since joining from Swansea in last summer's window. The winger impressed in the Championship but the step up in competition was always going to be a challenge.
The 22-year-old recently admitted he didn't expect to feature so frequently in his debut season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He said: "I was coming in not expecting to be in the squad at the start of the season and start as many games as I had now. I think it came down to working hard and the manager trusting me, he didn't have to but he did. It was just about what can I do to make sure he's trusts me on the pitch. Game by game I was just enjoying it more and believing in myself. The manager give me that belief and it helped me a lot."
MEN Sport understand Sancho is a priority target for United in the upcoming window and, if he signs, the England international is more than likely to feature on the right side of a forward three along with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
United fans believe both James and Sancho can have a role to play despite playing in the same position, with the Welshman's pace providing an excellent option off the bench when teams start to tire.
James believes United will be capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season when all of their key players are back to full fitness.
United haven't lifted the crown since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013 but the Wales international believes Solskjaer can guide the team to top spot.
"I think next season is obviously massive for us, we've had quite a few boys injured, a few long-term obviously at different times, Marcus [Rashford], Paul [Pogba] and yourself," he said.
"I think once we get them all back and everyone is back together, I think with the rotation of the squad we've got a great chance of challenging for that title next season."
