Rakitic, Sancho, Haaland... 6 January signings Solskjaer can scout this week

Man utd potential transfers:
Manchester United might not be playing for the next week and a half, but that doesn't mean there is anytime to rest for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his backroom staff.

The most sensible idea would surely be to go and watch England face Montenegro at Wembley on Thursday night. Not only will Marcus Rashford be looking to maintain his rejuvenated form in front of goal, but both Jadon Sancho and James Maddison should feature at some stage for Gareth Southgate's side.

Despite their improved form of late United have struggled for attacking flair throughout the season and the English duo are both genuine targets as the club look to reinforce their attacking lines.

Another unsurprising trip would be for Solskjaer to travel back to his homeland and watch Norway take on the Faroe Islands on Friday night.

It seems certain that Erling Haaland's name will dominate the transfer gossip ahead of the January transfer window, and the opportunity to gauge the former Molde striker's progress in person might be an opportunity too good to miss.

Solskjaer's hunt for a new centre forward has also seen Timo Werner linked with a move to the club and the United manager could get a good chance to see him showcase his talents this week too.

Germany host Belarus in a EURO 2020 qualifier on Saturday night and could provide the United chief with an ideal opportunity to see the RB Leipzig forward at his lethal best.

Elsewhere the United manager and his staff could look to cast their eye on a new central midfield signing, and there are two interesting options to consider.

Ivan Rakitic remains a top-class option despite his limited game time at Barcelona, and Solskjaer could well go to see his Croatia side host Slovakia in a pivotal qualifying fixture over the weekend.

The 46-year-old might also be tempted to travel and watch Sandro Tonali in action for Italy in the coming days, with the youngster earning rave reviews for his recent performances in Serie A.

The Brescia central midfielder has already audaciously been likened to compatriot Andrea Pirlo and is another player who could strengthen the United squad while also fulfilling the desired transfer criteria.
