Bruno Fernandes offers cryptic Man Utd transfer update after meeting
Man utd news update live:
Bruno Fernandes has offered a cryptic response to speculation surrounding his future after holding talks with Sporting Lisbon chiefs.
The free-scoring midfielder has been linked with Manchester United for a number of weeks but Tottenham representatives travelled to Portugal to discuss a move last week whilst reports suggest Real Madrid have also entered the race.
Fernandes is set to lead Sporting in what could be his final appearance for the club in the Super Cup against Benfica on Sunday.
He met with club bosses alongside his agent on Friday, where he reportedly communicated his desire to leave and was told he can go if their valuation of around €70m is met.
The Portugal midfielder took to Instagram to share a video about finishing pre-season and thanking those who helped him build up his fitness for the new campaign.
He received a response criticising him for asking to leave the club but hit back at the supporter, claiming not all reports about his future were true but offering few details regarding his situation.
"Two mistakes in the same text," Fernandes wrote.
"I'm glad everything the newspapers write is true isn't it my friend?"
With Fernandes giving little away, it is unclear how close he could be to a summer move.
United and Spurs will need to act fast to secure his signature with the Premier League deadline fast approaching on Thursday.
Reports previously claimed an agreement was in place with United for Fernandes to leave after Sunday's game, although Spurs registering their interest and Real Madrid entering the race could change the dynamic.
If United or Tottenham don't complete a move, it will open the door for the Spanish club to move for Fernandes before the end of the Portuguese transfer window on September 2.
