OFFICIAL? Barca 'announce' Denis Suarez to Arsenal deal but delete it later
Barcelona 'announce' Denis Suarez joins Arsenal on loan until the end of the season, but they have now removed the article from their website.
According to the deleted announcement, Suarez will join Arsenal on loan until the end of the season but the Gunners have the option to make the move permanent for £18m in the summer.
'FC Barcelona and Denis Suárez have reached an agreement for the extension of the player's contract with the club, which ended on 30 June 2020, until 30 June 2021,' the Spanish club said in a short statement on Wednesday afternoon.
'FC Barcelona have also agreed a loan deal for Suarez with Arsenal for the remainder of the 2018/19 season. The Premier League club will pay the player's salary during this time and the agreement includes an option to buy.'
Barca's announcement has been deleted
The midfielder, 25, who has one cap for Spain, has also agreed a new contract with Barcelona in order to protect his market value should the move to the Emirates Stadium not work out.
He will link up again with Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who he worked with during a loan spell at Sevilla during the 2014-15 season.
Emery has made no secret of the fact that he wants to sign two players before the transfer window shuts on Thursday with a winger his top priority.
